Hello everyone!  

I've been away! Sorry for the radio silence, I was enjoying some quality family time but I'm back and firing on all cylinders.  

Backerkit

We're almost done getting Backerkit ready to send out the surveys. There's been lots of fiddly things like getting new shipping quotes for the larger/heavier boxes and making sure all the addons transfer from Kickstarter to Backerkit.

Timeline. We should be sending out the first 'smoke test' for Backerkit later this week. This is where a random 10% of you are selected to trial our surveys  (the place where you tell us your address and add add-ons) and make sure it's all working. We're aiming to have the final survey out early next week.   

Upgrades. Many of you who backed at the book tier wanted to upgrade to the deluxe book. The survey for those in the Book and Game-Ready tiers will have a question allowing you to upgrade the book in your pledge. The core box does not have this option, as both the core and deluxe boxes are their own packaged product, which helps us keep the shipping costs way down.  So now the timeline will be as follow: 

 Alpha ContentOur next installment in the alpha test content is on its way; the art is done and we'll be rolling out new subclasses and at least one eldritch moon for y'all to play with. When it's ready, we'll release another update here on Kickstarter with instructions on how to access that content.  

Feedback. As always, your feedback will be invaluable. Please be sure to look for a QR code/hyperlink to the feedback form within each PDF; that'll take you right to the google form where you can give us your 2 cents. We'll include this link in the KS updates going forward so, if you ever have something to say, it should be easy to let us know. 

Community Discord. Come to the MonkeyDM Discord server! As well as the feedback channel mentioned above, you can dialogue with other backers here, and share your playtest insights 

The Future for Steinhardt's Guide to the Eldritch Hunt

Hello fellow hunters!

These last few days were insane, we took this project, and thanks to everyone's effort, made it the most funded DnD book of all time on Kickstarter, crazy!

What Happens Next?

Kickstarter has started charging all the supporters of this project, if a payment doesn't go through you'll receive a notification. Kickstarter will keep trying for a week, so if you're having issues with your credit card, you should have time to fix it :)

Shipping Info

In a couple of weeks, you will receive a survey from Backerkit, the platform we're using as our pledge manager. From there you'll be able to put in your shipping information, add add-ons, and upgrade your pledge if you wish to (I know a lot of you wanted to upgrade from the regular cover of the book to a deluxe cover).

Beta Content

As I mentioned during the Kickstarter, beta content will start rolling out and will keep doing so on a fairly regular basis. When you receive an email containing such content, don't hesitate to send me a message here, or on the Discord Chat to give your feedback, if something is too weak, too strong or just perfect! This way we ensure that we create the best book possible for all of us. 

The first beta release should be in 2-3 weeks. I would say less but right now I'm completely dead, so I'd rather not give false expectations. 

Life Update

I caught a pretty mean laryngitis right as the KS ended, and I've been pretty much sleeping non-stop since the Kickstarter ended (who would've thought that not sleeping nor eating properly for 30 days could affect you, crazy how things work).

This means I'm probably going to take a bit of time off, but once that's done I have so many cool concepts that I want to show you, and we'll get right back into it!

Project We Love - Sebastian Crowe's Guide to Drakkenheim

Now for something special. At Gen Con this year I met the Dungeon Dudes and was introduced to their dystopian DnD setting - Drakkenheim! Of all the books I've been introduced to, I'd say this pairs most thematically with Steinhardt's. Not only do we both have germanic names,  but their corrupted spells and eldritch corruption mechanic would slot right into our Eldritch-debased world. The Jaeger class and First Hunters could easily have an outpost in Drakkenheim, and their Apothecary class could come from our very own Radiant Church!

The original book (which is also available on this KS) has a full adventure path from level 1 to 13. This latest Kickstarter has dozens of new player options, including subclasses for every standard class: secure your next big score as a smuggler rogue, dance between rooftops as an urban ranger, and do whatever it is the flesh pact warlock does. Plus... they have minis! We know you want those!

Hello good hunters!

I said there wasn't going to be anymore stretch goals, but in the meantime Steinhardt's Guide went something like this:

Is this a final stretch goal I see?

After much debating we have come to a final stretch goal that won't delay the project, and that we can give to everyone for free.

Top Down Tokens. 

At $ ???, we will add cutom top down tokens for all the monsters of the book, to give to everyone who pledged to the Kickstarter (PDF or above). Print them out for your table, upload them to your VTT, however you play - these are for you! (Note: these tokens are different than the pog tokens included in the digital asset/VTT bundle).

I'm sure some of you can guess what the value of the secret stretch goal is ;) I'll give you a hint, we're 99% sure to hit it.

Now some other things to talk about:

Shipping and VAT

I've been receiving a couple of messages recently confused about how shipping and VAT works, so let me attempt to explain more clearly, and in more depth. 

First thing, you can find an estimate for the shipping costs and VAT at the bottom of the Kickstarter page. I've also attached the chart below for those of you who may have missed it.

We will charge for shipping and VAT (a.k.a. TVA, GST) in Backerkit roughly 4-5 weeks after the Kickstarter ends.

An important thing for people from from VAT paying countries: VAT is not included in the shipping price shown here. VAT differs drastically between countries; trying to represent that in a chart would be a huge task and would be almost unreadable. Instead we have shown a typical % value for VAT, which you can use to work out the approximate cost.

And it's not even that simple: different types of products have different VAT rates. For example, in France, the digital PDF has a VAT rate of 8%, the physical book is 4%, and the accessories have a rate of 20%.

We will calculate these values for the different tiers, for each shipping region, and add the VAT to the shipping cost. Thus, the shipping cost you see will include VAT and you will hopefully receive the product without any hassle from customs (taxes are complicated... who would've thought).

Refunds

You can request a full refund through Kickstarter by August 29th. Refunds after that time are processed on a case by case basis, and are subject to the non-refundable fees we pay to Kickstarter, Stripe, Backerkit, and others.

Some Epic Information

Now I want to mention something cool:

At the moment of writing this update, we are the 2nd most funded DnD Kickstarter of all time. By the the end of the campaign there is a chance we might be the most funded of all time. The goal to hit would be $2.48M for it to happen.

So go tell your grandma and you're uncle and let's get there together (or more realistically your friends that enjoy DnD and don't think it's related to Satan, they're probably more into it)

Hello!

I know I said I wouldn't do it.

But so many of you asked, that now, it might just happen.

We shattered our previous stretch goal, so now a New Class is ready to join the Hunt, The Jaeger. 

At 2 millions, we will unleash it upon the world.

This hunter can duck in and out of battle at a rapid pace. Part skirmisher, part glass cannon, and 100% deadly. Visceral attacks and parries are his specialty. Regardless of the weapons, heavy axes or dextrous blades, the Jaeger knows how to adapt his fighting style for all of them.
